Welcome To My Newsletter, The Number XIV
Why I'm adding yet another web3 newsletter to the ecosystem. Oh, and it's pronounced "fourteen."
Hi there, I’m Jacob D. Castro, a full-stack web3 JavaScript/TypeScript and Solidity developer. If it isn’t somehow already obvious, this is the first post of my newsletter! Thanks for checking it out.
I’ve been following web3 for about two years and have been involved full-time for a little over one. Being around crypto for that long has led me to hold two ideas in balance:
Web3 is good and has so much potential.
Web3 is currently a terrible experience.
These seem like conflicting concepts, but I sincerely believe both are true.
So, why?
At the moment, web3 is inherently technical, complicated, and tough to grasp. Due to its perplexing nature, web3 has been most accessible for those with a programming or finance background, leaving our non-technical friends behind. It’s a heartbreaking reality I’ve witnessed over and over again.
As a developer, I want to play my part in lowering web3’s barrier to entry. If this is indeed the future, it must be accessible to every person. This newsletter, The Number XIV (pronounced “the number fourteen”), is one of many avenues I’ll use to help accomplish that goal.
Here, you can expect to read about my perspective on a range of topics, including:
easy-to-grasp explanations of the more technical side of crypto
web3/DeFi product tutorials and reviews
in-depth descriptions of the latest crypto happenings
thought-provoking commentary on the ethos of web3
There will be no spam here whatsoever. I intend to publish only once or twice a month to keep meaningfulness and value on the high end. As events happen, additional publications may be posted explaining more significant hacks, rug pulls, controversies, etc.
If any of this interests you, please subscribe!
Let’s connect on Twitter; I’m always happy to chat with other web3 peeps.
See you in the metaverse. ✌🏽
